Of Hemlines & Heroines
Where did Spring go? I asked myself this question so many times over the weekend as the temperature rocked to the mid 90s. Don’t get me wrong – I loved the heat! (Is anyone else a warm weather person?) I was just looking forward to a longer Spring “the world is blooming again” type feeling. Maybe that’s why I wore this floral, Spring inspired dress yesterday? Probably.
This dress is one of my favorites, though! I love the lightweight fabric and the built-in double layer of grey fabric underneath that acts as a slip so no one sees the goods. The breathability of the dress also makes it perfect for Spring. I usually wear it with a sweater (because aircons), but you could just as easily wear it without. It has ribbon-like grey straps, so it makes for a cute detail. I paired it with a pair of faux leather heels and a tan, faux leather purse that you may remember from another recent Spring look I featured.
If don’t already know, I’m a huge fan of modern, vintage-inspired fashion. There’s something about the scrunched top that seems ultra feminine and even gives off a little vintage vibe to me. It’s a great way to emphasize that you have a chest without showing off cleavage, which is a huge appeal to the more modest fashionistas out there.
The real reason why I love this dress so much is the asymmetrical hemline. I love when dresses and skirts are a bit longer in the back than the front. It’s nice for girls with more junk in the trunk, because you don’t get the back-hiking that normally happens. (You know what I’m talking about, ladies!) Longer backsides mean no restrictions – you can bend down, sit down and walk around without worrying about citations for indecent exposure. Believe me, I took full advantage of this yesterday while Jonathan and I played around the fountain (in the most mature way possible, of course) in the cutest mini-city by the clubhouse lake we were visiting.
I even caught Jonathan in a boyish giggle after dancing around the fountain we found. I had to include it, because he’s just so cute.
Which brings me to my question of the day…
